Been doing more working and less fishing this week, so I pretty much ran to the spot to get every last minute in this afternoon (4 til dark). Got on some NICE crappies right off the bat. We used YUM glow wooly beaver tails 1.5", jig-n-raps, and blue green rattling spoons tipped with spikes. Here is my best two right at 14":

Those aren't nearly as big as the whoppers I saw you with the last time. You are not using my magic auger are you? That Randy dude is a fish catching machine !!

Word from the experts at the heaven chain o lakes is that the ice this yr will be causing a shad kill, meaning less baitfish, more competition for food, and should be excellent fishing.

Hog, that auger is magic, and no you can't have it back (unless you want to trade for that sled)

. Randy is a bad dude for sure, a definate workhorse... he'll drill 100 holes, walk 10 miles though 10" of snow (as I follow behind), fish morning til dark, drive 6 hours like he's going to the local gas station, all with a smile, he's the perfect fishing buddy, if he didn't catch so many fish

.

In regard to the ice thickness, that is open water behind us, so it varies from 7" to 0"
