What is the best tip up line??

I mostly jig but while I do I usually put out some tip ups, the line is white does the color matter?  What do you guys use?

I use 30# Dacron with a 6ft leader of eather 8 or 15# fluorocarbon leader so I wouldn't think the color would matter if you use a leader like this because they really can't see it.

 they sell line specifically made for tip-ups but i use fireline superbraid(smoke)for its small diameter and superior strength.never had it snap yet and i've pulled up some fat gators.(knock on wood)also never had a freeze up problem.

All I tied on was a 12 inch steel leader maybe thats why the flags never fly ???  My one friend told me not to use weight and the other always uses weight ??  I should probably stick to jigging :unsure:

no steel and no weight.  I use 3 ft. of 20# braided for a leader and the only weight I use is a 300# Spro saltwater swivel between the Dacron and the leader.  This provides plenty of weight to keep the bait down.
