Ok.  I have had this idea for years now.  Lots of people like to listen to music while out on the ice.  Also with the popularity of Ipods I came up with an idea for this a few years ago.  I have no idea how to do it, or where to start so maybe someone here can cash in on my idea....

Why not make a 12v ipod dock that you could hook to your flasher or other battery.  Keep the dock small like one for an office desk.  Maybe even use marine grade speakers just for an extra measure.

Something like this, but made more for the outdoors... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/649192-REG/KICKER_09IK350_iK350_Digital_Docking_System.html

I think it is a great idea if you also include earphones for the user. I really don't like to hear someone else's loud music coming across the ice when I'm fishing.

Good idea but I listen to enough music and don't want to hear any from me or anyone else when I'm out on  the ice......

It would, but I was thinking something purpose built for the outdoors.  Maybe a mount that would drop into the Vexilar Ultrapack rod holders, or the top where the float sits.  Just something I was dreaming up sitting on the ice.

Personally I don't own an Ipod.  I do have MP3's on my phone, and sometimes use headphones with it.  I was trying to come up with a way to build a product that I could make some money to support my ice habit.

Chime me in on not wanting to hear someone else's opinion of good music while out on the ice.  We all have our own tastes in music, and seldomly do two people agree.  I'm there for the peace and quiet and to escape the music and crap at home.

I don't know how well that would work because I am almost positive there would be battery and freezing issues.  Ipod/MP3s/Phones don't have the best batteries to use in the cold and the cold might also freeze the liquid in the screen.  That is why on the Showdown they have to have it a special way so it doesn't freeze and that is the reason for what temperature it can be in(don't remember what it is).

I think it is a really cool idea. A lot of guys hate hearing music on the ice but love to hear a gas auger...go figure. I've never brought the Ipod out because I have issues dropping stuff down the holes. It seems like Zackdecker would be right with the lcd's but most of us are fishing in some sort of heated shanty it seems be it a portable or hard side. I enjoy the peace and quiet too but I'm going to start rocking out to some sort of tunes everytime I hear a gas auger fire up.

If you were in a shanty all you need are some cheap $15 speakers but I think he wanted to make on for anywhere.

No music on the ice.  Most of us enjoy the quiet.  Earphones are the way to go though if you must.

I usually go with someone so I like the time to talk and have a good time instead of listening to music.  If I don't go with anyone then I use headphones or listen to the wind against the ice or the snow against the shanty.

My eight year old put up a fight about bringing his DS out one time last year. He had his face in his game when "plop". He sinks a leg in an 8" hole. I resisted saying " What did I tell you?". Because I knew it scared him really bad. But I think he learned his lesson on his own.
