Making Ice fishing jigs

I was jsu wondering if anyone had any information on how to make ice fishing jigs. Any hints, tips, or any info would be appretiated. THanks

What kinda jigs?  the lead heads themselves, or are you looking at marabou feathered jigs?

Use a gold Eagle Claw #10 or#12 long shank  hooks. Make sure you use some flux before melting a drip of leaded solder in the front of shank. And make sure you have a hot  hot solder gun. After the jigs are cool place them in a cup of alcohol this will clean the jigs so paint will stick.

I just picked up a new vice and all the gubbins to start tying my own flies for bass - trout and saltwater ...
these i purchased for icefishing this year ... look pretty effective and good first ty.

mud, are those soldered? i could never get a nice ball using solder much less 3 or 4 balls. whats's your technique? they look really good!!!

I use glass beads I bought at Mitchels craft store. They have a variety of sizes too.

Oh and the steel ball are Cyclops beads from the fly tying section at gander mountain.

Thay slide over th point. Sometimes I have to straighten the hook alittle to get them on and then bend it back. I snug them together with some thread in the front and back.

I really like the idea of the beads.  Is there any way of tying weight on the bead jigs to be able to get those bad boys down there? ...

go to a fly fishing shop ..they sell a weighted wire thats like thread ..ya just wrap it around the hook...they use it to give  wet fly nymphs some weight...cheap and should work...

Not yet! But a micro I make with brown beads was a real producer last year!

hey A-bomb, where do you get lead wire thicker than .030, that's as thick as they had at cabelas. i also checked all the hardware stores. just can't find it.

I get it at smaller hardware stores..mills, ace hardware...I like the .62 60 lead 40 tin wire.
