Well, what's new?

Heard rumors last year about a new lightweight battery.  Sent an email to Greg, but never got a response.

I think I am sold on one. I just need to get rid of my gas auger first.

I talked to him wendsday, there is a new lithium battery pack thats going to be available but this year it will be really expensive. If you order this season you'll get the new improved motor with 9 ah batteries and he said if you wait till next season the lithium batteries will come down in price signifigantly and they will plug right into the unit and will be 1/4 the weight and you'll get twice the performance.

ordered one and this is the email I received.

The new changes for 2009 are as follows:

1.    Bigger Motor that is pulling less amps, using the 9ah batteries with this motor will do the same amount of holes as the old drive using the 12ah battery. So we no longer will offer the 12ah battery.

2.    Sealed lead acid battery pack, This pack can be charged on or off the drive, Charging port is on top of pack and just simply plugs into the switch. Note: we will be offering a offering a  High Power Li-Ion pack that looks exactly like the new Lead acid pack for this season. But this pack will have a salty price tag of $450.00 for this year and will be on a special order basis only. These packs are expensive but will be a 1/4 of the weight with twice the run time. Also the price for this pack will drop to around $200 next year

3.    Sealed fwd & Rev. buttons

4.    The new Attacker now called the Attacker II is 3 pounds lighter and 60 rpms faster with a new look to it, with a 6" bit attached to this drive you could expect to get 150 holes through 15" of ice

Just wondering why they have not re-designed the forward/reverse buttons so they cannot be accidentally turned on while in transit.Mine did this enclosed in a case and it chewed the case all to heck. I notified Ice gator and never got a respose from anyone. This is a very hazardous power switch and it should be dealt with ASAP.These buttons need to be protected from accidental bumping.Either make a cover for them or a master disconnect switch to shut the battery power off.

I haul mine with the auger taken off. I thought that the weight of the thing falling could bend the shaft. I drilled a hole the same size as the extension shaft into my pulling sled. Then just set the thing down into the hole. Keeps everything balanced well. It takes longer to put the auger on once you get there, but I haven't bent anything.

I know what you mean. I tried everywhere in my area within 100 miles and found nothing. I ended up just calling Greg and getting one direct. I would of liked to feel the 12volt in my hands and then made my decision. I ordered the Attacker 9ah to be safe. Plus it turns a few more RPM's.

Even more so that they told me I would have it this month. Cry

I spoke to Greg last week and he said mine would ship around the 23rd (monday) and that he would contact me the day before it was shipped. They were waiting on a parts supplier and that is why everything was back ordered.

Thanks Pete.

I have never even seen an icegator in person. This site is the reason I am getting one.
I try and explain the icegator to my friends and family but they just laugh and say it will be junk.

They have no idea!   Grin

Irish Jigger.

Thats around the same time I ordered mine.  Thanks
