Shack out on highland !!!
« on: Apr 04, 2009, 03:41 PM »
I drove around the lake today looking at ice conditions .  Most of the inlets are opening up the lake big time .  I noticed on the far north end there is still a shack out there !!!!!!    Its a small light blue shack that has had a ton of junk around it all winter a real pigsty . Well I guess they have shown the greatest disrespect to the lake that they can now buy leaving there shack and all there junk out there to sink in the lake .

Can't believe some people..how ignorant can they be.

Wouldn't be surprised if the state makes us pay a fee to use hard shacks.

Hey....now your on to some thing. How about a fee to register shacks like sleds and wheelers. Whats another $30 - $40. that will help balance the budget ;)

Ya they could do like they talked about with the canoes . If you have a fishing licence its a free registration . That sound like a good idea   ;) ;)

geez..  how deep is it where it is?  might boat over to it and tie a lobster buoy with a heavy rope on it and try to haul it up when you can get a bigger boat over to it.. sorry to hear John..  Least ya could do was to canoe over and get a name off it and turn it in to the Warden service...

That'd be incentive to pair down a bit, wouldn't it?  Next thing you know, they'll be passing a registration
fee on all shacks, not just hard sides. >:(

Then they'll decide to pass a registration fee on any dog out on the ice.... :P

Im not going out on the ice now .  I have found out that it has been reported to the wardens with the name and number off the shack .  It is only in 10 feet of water or less so it can be taken care of after ice out .  It just pisses me off that people do things like that .

We have to register with the State of Nebraska and pay $5 for an application for a permit for a permanent shanty here. The State also has strict requirements on size, material and height off of ice. We don't have to many permanents here, as a matter of fact I've never seen one in my area.

Quote

Ive got a survival suit I'm going to toss on tonight and go alteast get all the crap around the shack into it. so that way if it goes down at least its all cleaned up into on shack.

thanks for the offer, we have 5-6 guys going down as soon as we are out of work at 7. going to pull it

beavertale and pfd168 are planning on holding the rope for me. they have told me not to flail around alot if i break through, and not to yell and draw attention to myself.   :cookoo: :cookoo:

the shack is off and so is 99 percent of the crap that was around it.

It makes you feel good about the teem Maine crowd ..     What a good bunch to go out of there way to clean up anothers mess .   HATS OFF TO ALL THAT HELPED

Thanks for the kind words it was actually fun to try to get that shack off the ice. We got it popped out of the hole it was in and hand dragged it a 100 yrds to where we could get a rope on it. Then it was up to the wheeler after that. The shack is pretty decent its had some vandalism to it but I think we can fix er up. It was defiantly a team effort to remove it! Thanks for the help Sticks,Chip,Maylon,Aaron and Jen
