The DNR is warning people to stay off the bay, The ice is breaking up north of peshtigo.
Heard some reports of pike and some smaller trout being caught off the breakwall in Oconto... I was there last week and it was pretty slow.
I have been catching some more pike off of Longtail the ice rotting fast, still plenty for walking 16-18 inches. Had some 30+ inchers caught and heard a story of a 44 incher caught this week out there.

My buddy has been fishing with me and hasn't caught one either I have only caught 3 and had a couple others on. I like 4 feet deep with live bait (large golden shiners)for pike. The action has been slow but what I have caught has been over 30". Action should pick up once this new snow melts... I hope! :)
good luck

Scott, I've been fishing littletail off hook road the past few weekends and have yet to score a fish. Had a couple flags but nothing. Saw a little over a half dozen smaller fish caught. I've been using nothing but very large bait, 5-7 x-large golden's and 8-11 inch dead smelt. I was thinking it might be a little too early yet, your opinion? I have a week off starting the 16 and I was wondering if you have any suggestions on where to hit? I fish the breakwall alot in spring and summer but never in winter. Where exactly is a good spot to try? I got a friend who used to fish at the mouth but he said you had to watch out for a lot of current if you went to close to the mouth of the river. You think I should tone down the size of my bait? Thanks for any info!!

On 3/9/01 went back to longtail saw a bunch caught and got a nice 36 incher myself, which is my personel biggest pike lifetime... also saw someone that had a chinook also said he had caught a bass and had a big trout on that broke his line... not to mention he had 12 nice perch too!

Big Pete was out on longtail on 03/03/2001 saw about 2 dozen fish caught, lots of nice 30"+ northern pike. I went out on the 4th and it wasn't such a good day, very slow lots of hit and spits only 4-6 fish caught one was a 36" pike and a fluke was caught by a group next to us it was a 28 inch walleye! that weighed 10lbs!
Ice was in great shape about 18"-20" trucks and cars were traveling all over the place... please be careful and check ice conditions before venturing out the bay conditions can change VERY fast in march on the bay.

Been out on the bay in Oconto this week. There is 18"-20" inches of good ice in the bay by the breakwall to county park II. Caught some nice pike, all over 30" the biggest one was 34" 9lbs. Lots of hit and spits and cut lines, the action should only get better with the weather warming up.
Talked to some people that were out looking for perch no body had any killer stories or perch to show off. Travel is great! Except for 3 nice presure cracks aboout a mile and a half from shore.

Just called Ern Joy's today. They said that there were a couple of people about a half mile out. Otherwise there is plenty of ice in the small bays around Stergeon Bay.
