I fished Archibald for a few hours last Sat. We had some luck by the islands on the launch side. We will be there again this weekend. The Norhterns we caught were in deep water over 20 feet. We also managed 1 19" walleye before dark on a waxworm. I looked on lake link and there was a report of some Walleye being caught on small shiners. I am going to try some smaller lake shiners on tip-ups this weekend. Wondering if the clear water and pressure has the Walleye wanting smaller baits?
I would like to move around some more this time but not sure where to try.
Any suggestions?

Fished from 7am til 8pm, struggled to get much of anything. Was able to catch some panfish and sadly only a few snakes. No walleyes. Anyone else have any luck?

Lake was almost froze over completely on 12/20/2001. People were creeping out on the bays in search of walleyes. The action was slim to none so far this year. Ice was anywhere from 6 inches to 2 inches in the bays.

This is a great lake, just tough to fish... very clear water therfore the fish are spooky

The fishing really sucks here. i have been out all last week and i causht nothing but snakes. i would not recomend this lake for fishing to anybody

So has anyone been fishing Archibald the last few weeks? Went out one other time about a week and a half ago, got some snakes and alot of flags. Found a desent spot for some nice sized gills. Fished for walleyes til around 8:30-9, no luck though.

Went out last Thursday from around noon til about 8:15 in the evening and went 6 for 8 with tip ups. Caught 5 hammerhandles and one nice size 22 inch walleye. Fished a little too deep I believe.

I think you could catch pike all around the lake.
There are a lot of hammer handles.

Try fishing in the bay by the boat landing... anywhere
in 7-15 feet of water has been real productive. The islands in the first lake are a hot spot. Use large golden shiners and light line like 12lb or less.

Had some good fishing the last couple of days
out on the lake. The ice is about 5-6inches and in
real good shape.. took the quadrunner acrossed
yesterday. We had 5 walleyes the day before with
two nice fish that got away! Last night we caught
4 with one in the 28" 8lb range!

Ice has improved very little due to the warm temps.
Ice only one eye sat from 4pm-12midnight 3 flags and the one eye 21" 3 lbder... GOOD EATER!

Nailed a 25" 5lb walleye last night.. lots of flags couple northern were bagged. The ice is getting bad we were in 6 feet of water using shiners be very careful!

The ice has covered Archibald... made it out about 30 yards, the edge of the lake had 3-4 inches of ice but the middle had only 1 1\2" of ice. Caught one nice 21" 3lb walleye... had several other flags.
