I fish the Kewaunee and Ahnapee Rivers, but I am sure that every river along Lake Michigan would be good to fish. I actually fish up in the river, and not at the mouth or in the harbor. We end up fishing what could be considered the mid sections of the rivers, where they are deeper and wider and usually do not have a whole lot of current. I have been out twice this year, and have landed 3 big browns and have lost a few others. The fish are still in a spawning mode and are not real aggressive yet. Also the ice was thin and I was not able to get out on my best spots. With the cold weather the ice should be solid by the weekend.

Hey Nate,
What tributaries so you fish? Are you on the river or at the mouths in harbors?

If you guys are looking for a unique ice fishing experience, you should try ice fishing a Lake Michigan tributary for steelhead and browns. Fishing can be great all throughout the winter, and these areas are extremely overlooked. My personal bests for last winter were 10 fish in one morning. A 19 pound brown, and a 17 pound steelhead.
