01/21/02, 10 hours of actual fishing time - 4 to 5 1/2" of ice w/2" snow on the shady South shore and slush toward the North shoreline. The North shoreline had some open water the previous Thursday, on Monday it was thin ice with slush, so don't venture over there. Plenty of fish marked on the sonar but were finicky. I caught 38 bluegills, 6 small perch, and 2 nice crappie during the day. Small pounders, copeds, and marmooska jigs worked best with maggots. After dark, I caught 12 nice crappie on a size 8 glow demon tipped with maggots. Bill May, Glenn Cumings, and Bob Barber all caught a mixed bag of perch, gills, and some crappies, only one trout. Glenn caught tons of gills of various sizes on a small pounder jigged aggressively. Also, fished on 1/11/02, for about 7 hours with similar results. Hope the rain stays away from the Hanover area and the ice holds. Pray for a cold snap...this could be it for the Shep.
