Just got back from Orillia 14 Jan with a limit of perch for all 4 guys in our party. Trombly's operations are getting more organised every year as they work the kinks out of their system.

Fishing was not as insanely good as it was last year when I managed to limit out on fish over 11 inches in a half day, but with a bit of work (and some sorting of the little guys), there are still plenty of fish to be had.

As iun the past, jigging Rapalas in sizes 3 and 5 produced well, generally tipped with a minnow or three on the trebles, but by far the best producer when the fish were feeling neutral was a wiggler on a perch fly. White and red seemed to be the preferred colours.

For those uninitiated into the dark arts of the perch fly, it is simply a # 6 Aberdeen hook onto which a small amount of calf's tail has been tied, extending perhaps 1 cm below the bend of the hook. Think of a sparsely dressed streamer fly on an Aberdeen hook.
