I fished Hackberry the last two week-ends. Had a few flags go up. Pan fishing was very slow. Would catch a very nice blue gill or perch every once in awhile. The bioligist came out and checked fish - said all lakes that he checks were slow. Will go back this week-end. If anything outstanding happens, will report.

I fished Clear lake and Dewey Lake. Last 2 Sundays. Nothing fast at Dewey. From the locals it seems that it produced good Northerns early but maybe getting fished out. We caught about 18-20 fish on 15 tipups. Only had 7 keepers (22"-28" and that was 1/21/2001. On Jan 27th we fished clear and success was worse--only had 4 keepers (Northern) and 1 Perch but the fish story of the day was when Roger Carroll pulled a 42.5 inch northern onto the ice. What a fish?

Has anyone out there fished the refuge lakes in the last week? What is happening. Haven't heard any word of any bluegill this year.
