Wind out of any of the southern directions can be grat for perch. Try using 6# limp line with tiny jigs like the 1/32 kink crab tipped with maggots - but suspend 12" off the bottom with a small float that has just enough weight to prevent it from going under. Fish in 30' of water. Ice is 28" thick and many are driving on it - do not cross active pressure ridges.
