1-25-02: pretty hot perch, and gill fishing. although you had to weed out the small ones, they sure kept you busy while you waited on tipup flags. we only caught 2 pike with 1 being legal size(good eater). we caught most of our panfish on a golden teardrop tipped with a waxworm. it didn't seem to matter what hole you fished it was non stop action. fish for panfish and pike straight out from the public boat ramp about 200-300 yards. pike are in the same general area. the farther out you go, the shallower it seems to get. tipup tip: tie on a golden willow leaf spoon right where you tie on your steel leader. this adds alot of flash to your setup of sucker, smelt, or golden shiner. also- try hooking your live bait a little behind it's dorsal fin, and snipping off the top part of it's tailfin. this forces it to struggle downward a little which pike seem to like........ good luck!
