I am from Newfoundland (where trout are king) and living in Ontario So --- there is no difference when you fish for brook trout, all the gear will work one day or another. But, there is an extra thing you can do and it proves to be fun. If you are fishing on open ice (no hut) put you hood up on you parka put you head over the hole work you lure. The first time you see a big brookie swim by ---what a rush. But work slow when it returns and attacks the bait don't pull up until he starts to turn away. What a rush. If the water is dark you can sprinkle a few crushed egg shells to see the trout shape swim pass. Don't think there is any fish checking your bate. Aaaaaahhhhh you will be so surprised when you try this please get back to me let me know how it worked So many other things to tell you Tight Lines |
