JUST WONDERING WHAT ARE OTHER GUYS PREFERENCE FOR PIKE---TREBLE HOOKS? SIZE?---OR REGULAR SINGLE HOOKS? SIZE?

Ray, I prefer trebles for pike,I tried single hooks for a couple of years and lost more fish than I ever did with trebles. Hook preference for me are eagle claw lazers #2 in nickel finish, also use a wire leader.
I tried the heavy mono leaders for a while and found the bigger the pike the faster they'd cut the mono up.

try a fluorocarbon leader, tougher than mono, and less visible. havent had any break offs yet, just check knots and the line for knicks, retie if necessary. i use #6 mustad round bend trebles, havent missed a hook up this year. all hooked in the roof of the mouth, no swallowers. some guys will even go as small as #8's and do just as good.

what size bait are you use with these #6 and #2 treble hooks? I plan on using 5-6" shiners or suckers what size hook would you recommend

i use around 5-6 inch golden shiners on my #6 hooks. ive even used smelt on this rig and have not had problems yet. i only use 6-7 inch smelt so if youre using the jumbos id probably go with a #4. gerneally, match hook size to bait size, the round bend should be just wide enough to get though the shiners back. my opinion is the fish cant feel the hard ware so will hold the bait longer. i guess the larger hooks probably wouldnt get as many swallowers but i just make sure i pay close attention to my flags. havent had a swallow yet this year.

well maybe you should find a more productive toilet......one that has trophy potential...
