Dave, I love polors and I usually put around 100 to 150 yards of 20lb. Ice fishing line then a weight after that a swivel followed by a 10lb mono leader than about 2 to 3 feet with a regular hook and a minnow(and they don't freeze that bad and if they do just get a hatchet and chip out the edge of the hole and you are good to go)
