What I did, as I use the quick strike rigs with two trebler hooks, was to cut a piece of felcro strip about 8" long and I place it on th espool then place the hooks onto it and wrap it around.

No hooks in the line, no hooks in my clothes and I can carry 24 tip ups in my back pack when I go fishing with my sons and they never tangle - NEVER!!
