You're best luck is to fish pike during the day. They are sight feeders triggered by erratic movement. At night, you will have to practically drop your rig right in front of their nose for them to notice. |

Posted At 08:58:54 02/09/2002 It is best to be in a area that that has a lot of pike in it.Plan to stay all night, this is where a a nice shanty comes in handy.Use treble hooks and steel leaders and large golden shinners or suckers.Beaver dam tip ups work the best but any will do.Action will be slow but every 10 min. take your flash light and make the rounds.I have caught most my wall hangers this way.even if you fall asleep the steel leader should keep the catch on till you make your rounds-a pleasent suprise in the morn!Keep in mind that in most cases the law says you have 10-15min. to get to a tip up with a flag up.I know I had a warden tip mine once and he timed me.So make sure you wake up in time to make that round before the sun comes up.My freinds and I usally make it a fishing camp and play cards all night, with the looser skimming the holes and making the rounds. We never got skunked yet! |
