I use a minnow head on tip ups for perch, it works great!!!

How deep, what type of lake, how big is the lake, what time of day?

SMALLER is better i use a #8 snelled single hook and fathead minnows around an inch to two just off the bottom. not bad for crappies either. GOOD LUCK

When you hit a perch on a tipup do you reset the tipup, or start jiggin in that hole? Sounds like a good way to locate.

would a perch take the bait good enough to set the hook itself? or would you use this technique to just locate the perch?
