For perch fishing:

I like to use a red fire-eye jig and on the tip of that I like to use eather a perch eye, a small pinhead minnow, or a magot (wax worm)

For Lake Trout fishing:

When I go Lake trout fishing it is usally cold and windy, so when I go fishing I like to make it worth my while so I like to catch some fish. When I go I usally like to fish the deeper waters. I like to find the deeper depths of the lake and I have found that, that is where to bigger lake trout usally hang out. For bait I usally like to use live smelt. Some guys don't spend that much money on live bait, but those are the guys who go home empty handed with no fish. Even though live smelt costs more they are unbeatable. In Vermont where I live live smelt sell for about $7.50 a dozen. Some days the smelt will produce many, many lakers, but everyone gets those days when you can't get anything to bite, so even the best fisherman go home empty handed.
