Posted At 19:02:50 02/13/2002 Small colourful(light green) lures, small treble hooks mid afternoon overcast days from mid february to the main run in the spring when the ice starts to go bad.I use small mud minnows and jig about 2 to 3 feet from the bottom. These fish have their eyes on the top of their head and are always feeding upwards.I use small stick bobbers .Towards the end of february i fish at night by lantern .Usually i get there an hour before dark and continue to fish until they bite and they will at some time but you must be patient.I find the biggest ones bite after dark. Some people fish them an hour before dark in the morning and they could bite right through to 9 to 10 am.The depth is usually 10 to 12 feet to bottom just off the edge of a wedbed and not far from a shoal with a gradual drop off.At night the illuminated bobbers work the best.Perch usually set in not long after it gets light in the same area not far from where you were catching crappies |
