Posted At 22:49:18 09/13/2001 Hi Paul, I would first make sure that the auger has "good spark". You may have already checked it, but if not, remove the spark plug, re-attach it to the wire and rest the plug close to the hole where it can make contact with a good metal surface. Make sure the on/off switch is in the ON position and pull it a few times. You will have to look closely at the end of the plug, but you should see a small spark at the end of the plug. If not, you will need to replace the plug wire or maybe the coil. If you do see a spark you are in good shape. squirt a little gas/oil mix in the plug hole, replace the plug and wire and pull. if it fires, you may need to do this a couple of times. You should also get rid of that old gas in the tank and replace it with some fresh stuff. Most likely the old gas has gummed up the carburetor. A product called Sea Foam can be purchased at auto parts stores. follow the instructions n the can. this stuff works good for cleaning the carb. out. Good luck! |

Posted At 21:57:05 11/19/2001 What you need is to clean the carb and get a carb rebuild kit and a new fuel filter and will run like brand new. I have about a 10 year old auger that was my grandpas and did these repairs and worked great. I am also small engine mechanic so it was easy. |

Posted At 10:01:29 11/22/2001 I have a Esko-mo auger that is at least 20 years old. Here is my question. At the time it was made lead was still in gasoline that was being used. With no lead these days or at least easily available. Has anyone ran their old auger with lead free gas without problems? Or any other info on this question. Thanks |

Posted At 08:19:33 01/14/2002 Try taking out the plug and holding a lit match on the end for a few moments and reinstall. Sometimes will start right up. |

Posted At 15:10:04 01/25/2002 jim, i have an old tractor and it was made to run on leaded gas as well. one day the head blew and i was told that the missing lead was the problem . i have since rebuilt the head with new seats and do not require any leaded gas .i beleive that if the auger is worth anything - take to a mechanic and ask if a lead additive is available for the auger. it was for the tractor but i found out to late. |

Posted At 07:15:55 01/26/2002 check the fuel line for kinks or clogged with gummy gas/oil. better yet toss & replace it. also the fuel filter inside the tank-replace it. chech the on/off switch with a meter to see that its working. replace the plug. i had th same problem a few years ago. hope this helps |
